The Marshall Building has stood as the crown jewel of the former Phillips University and Seminary since its construction in 1950. It was the primary symbol of the vital relationship between faith and learning. The building’s stained glass windows, particularly in Bivins Chapel, also serve as symbols, representing an ancient art form with a contemporary message. Created by Henry Lee Willet of the Willet Stained Glass Company of Philadelphia, each of the five double-lancet windows on the east wall of Bivins Chapel focuses on an important aspect of Christian mission: preaching, teaching, healing, helping and transforming. The National Register of Historic Places added the Marshall Building to its listings in 2015.
