A Look Back at a Wonderful 2014 in Enid

As we move into 2015 and the excitement of future opportunities and successes, it's also a great time to reflect on all the wonderful and exciting times had in Enid in 2014.

Fireball Run EnidHere's a look at some of the things Visit Enid had a hand in during 2014.

Fireball Run, the most epic adventurally in America, came to Enid on Sept. 30, 2014

Enid hosted an Oklahoma Arts Council Leadership Arts class

Helped organize Chisholm Trail Roundup and is teaming up with Duncan to promote Oklahoma’s involvement with the 150th anniversary of the Chisholm Trail coming in 2017

Co-hosted a Keep Oklahoma Beautiful workshop with Keep Enid Beautiful

Enid and David Allen Memorial Ballpark received a six-year commitment from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) to continue to host its Division II World Series through 2020

David Allen Memorial Ballpark will also host the 6A state baseball tournament in May

Enid won the bid to host the American Kitefliers Association National Convention in Sept. 2015, bringing AKA back to the site of its 2012 national convention

Enid will be host for the 2016 Statewide Historical Preservation Conference

Enid also had its share of media attention through local, state and national outlets

Began a weekly radio segment on KOFM which airs each Thursday morning

Coordinated TV coverage for Five80 Coffeehouse, Leonardo’s Children’s Museum, Café Garcia, and a FOX 25 Road Trippin’ segment featuring several local businesses

Enid was featured in several regional and national magazines, including Thrive Magazine, Convention South Magazine, Super Looper Magazine and Sports Events Magazine

The Journal Record ran a front-page story on Enid’s need for more restaurants

Oklahoma Film and Music brought a crew to Enid to film a music video

Enid saw a new hotel (Country Inn and Suites) and a new travel plaza (Thunder Travel Plaza) open, Visit Enid sponsored a Main Street Enid program to bring a giant snow globe to downtown as well as worked with Garfield County to publish a new brochure featuring the fabulous murals inside the Garfield County Courthouse.

And Visit Enid staff members were honored as well

Director Marcy Jarrett was selected to the 2014-15 Oklahoma Municipal League’s Citizen Academy Leadership Training Class along with new Enid City Manager Jerald Gilbert

Communications Coordinator Rob Houston was named to the 2015 Honorary Commander Program at Vance Air Force Base

We welcomed Rhonda Koch as our new services manager

Marcy, Rob and Rhonda want to say thank you to all our partners for making 2014 a very memorable year in Enid. We also want to say thank you to our visitors and hope you come back to Enid again soon.
