This week in Enid - December 10
Christmas activities were aplenty last week in Enid, and now we finally have the winter weather to go with it. At least for today.
This week’s Enid calendar has many events that have to do with Christmas and some that don’t. Either way it’s a pretty full week of things to do. I want to spotlight one event on Sunday that has nothing to do with Christmas. The new DVD “Guardian of the Chisholm Trail” featuring Enid native and Chisholm Trail historian Bob Klemme will have its public premier at 3 pm Sunday at Convention Hall. It’s a 30-minute documentary with Mr. Klemme explaining to a family out on a Sunday drive the historical impact the Chisholm Trail had on this region. Bob will be at the premier, and we’ll throw this little tidbit out there, too. Saturday is Bob’s birthday and we’ll be serving refreshments including birthday cake, and we’ll have a large card that all in attendance can sign. Admission is free and the DVDs will be available for sale for $15. They are currently for sale at the Enid Welcome Center, 123 W Maine, Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center at 507 S 4th and Soapweeds and Cactus at 122 N Independence. Hope to see you at Convention Hall on Sunday.
I am working on a new Visit Enid newsletter that will be starting soon. This calendar will soon be delivered in the new newsletter format. Also on it will be a new feature called “Meet an Enid Insider.” The point is to spotlight Enid residents talking about where they like to shop, eat and play in their hometown. The feature will live on the VisitEnid.org website. While there are visitors who like the chains because they know exactly what they are going to get, other visitors like to visit the locally-owned shops and restaurants to get something they can’t get at home. “Meet an Enid Insider” will give those visitors insight into Enid they may not have a way of getting otherwise. I will be sending out a short questionnaire on this list later this week. I hope you will take the time to answer the questions and return it to me.
As always, if you have an event you would like to see listed, visit our website www.VisitEnid.org, go to Calendar of Events and click on “Add an event.” Don’t forget to “Like” our Facebook page, and please forward this to anyone you think may want to know what’s going on in Enid!
