Weekly update for November 30th

Another fantastic Thanksgiving holiday weekend is in the books. Enid Lights Up the Plains was great again this year and we are all stuffed with turkey and have all our Christmas shopping done, right?

Hope you can make plans to attend Christmas in the Village on Friday night at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center. Experience Christmas as the settlers of the Cherokee Outlet did back in the late 1800s as Humphrey Heritage Village has been transformed into a Christmas wonderland. Friday night there will be carolers, you can make your own Christmas ornament and write a letter to Santa using a quill pen like they did more than 100 years ago. It’s just the second year for Christmas in the Village but is quickly becoming an Enid holiday tradition.

Another exciting event on Friday is the homecoming of the Vietnam Wall as it will permanently reside at the Enid Woodring Regional Airport. There will be a ceremony inside Convention Hall at 1 pm on Friday but the wall itself will be delivered there by procession on Garriott to Independence and turning north to Convention Hall. Organizers invite the public to line the streets beginning at 12:30 pm and join in the ceremony at 1 pm.

Basketball fans can also see the Enid teams in action this week, as NOC plays host to NEO on Tuesday and Enid High opens its season on Thursday against El Reno. Both sets of games are at the Mabee Center on the NOC campus.

As always, if you have an event you would like to see listed, visit our website www.VisitEnid.org, go to Calendar and click on “Submit an event.” Don’t forget to “Like” our Facebook page, and please forward this to anyone you think may want to know what’s going on in Enid!

Stake your claim for fun this week in Enid!
