Keeper of the Plains

Location
E Courthouse Lawn, 100 block N Grand

In 1992, Isaiah Williams, a Ponca Indian, wanted a monument to honor the state's original residents. This statue was underwritten by Security National Bank and was dedicated to all tribal members and their ancestors on April 16, 1994. The artist was H Holden. The plaque reads, "A lone Indian proudly stands holding the articles of peace. Thoughtful and serene, he is the "Keeper of the Plains."
